Hi, I’m Tim Dyer — the owner, designer, and craftsman behind Good Wood Craftsman. I live in the woods of Central Massachusetts with my wife Lynne, our rescue dog Freia, and our five cats. As a lifelong New Englander and hands-on maker, I take immense pride in creating beautiful, functional wood pieces that are built to last and made with care.
My journey into woodworking began when Lynne wanted garden beds for her garlic crop. I built one—and that simple project sparked a passion. Now, in retirement, I spend my days crafting custom cedar planters, cutting boards, charcuterie boards, and engraved pieces using CNC machining, all from natural materials and always handmade.
But this business is about more than just woodworking.
It’s about giving back.
Every purchase from Good Wood Craftsman helps support local animal rescue efforts—a cause close to our hearts. So, when you buy from us, you're not only getting a one-of-a-kind piece; you're also helping animals in need find safe, loving homes.
Whether you're looking for something custom for your home, garden, or a meaningful gift, I’d love to make something just for you.
Thank you for supporting handmade craftsmanship—and making a difference with every order.
Good Wood Craftsman only uses choice cedar board decking for our handmade planters we glue and screw every joint and make custom tops for the item.
Our cutting boards are either side grain or end grain per the customers needs. Size and thickness are also customizible
We just purchased our first CNC router its a Stepcraft M1000 that uses the latest technology to make quality carvings.
We are here to work with you on any idea you might have.
